‘Heist: Robbing the Bank of England’

Marcel Theroux wrote and presented this fascinating account of one of the biggest bank robberies you’ve probably never heard of.

Before the internet transformed the financial world, government bonds worth millions were physically transported between banks by couriers. In May 1990, one such courier, John Goddard, was robbed at knifepoint and bonds worth £292 million were stolen in what became known as one of the largest robberies of its kind.

Ian portrayed John Goddard in the reconstruction scenes and also took on three additional roles across the two-part series, shown on both Sky History and the Crime & Investigation Channel.

Filmed at a disused RAF base in Norfolk, the dramatic reconstructions were seamlessly blended with archive and contemporary footage to tell a gripping story of villains, avarice and greed.
