‘Once in a while’ (musical)

Set in 1930s London, Once in a While is a witty romantic comedy that captures the elegance, glamour and charm of the golden age of British theatre.

The musical follows singing teacher Bernard Chalmondly and his new student Nancy, who quickly fall head over heels in love. However, with Nancy's formidable aunt determined to stand in their way and Bernard's latest West End show about to open, true love faces its toughest challenge yet.

I played Merrell, Nancy's practical and down-to-earth butler, whose preferred remedy for life's troubles was to skip the tea and pour a generous glass of gin!

Written by Jane Morgan, the show was refined with the support of director Dave Phipps-Davis and arranger Mark Pim. It was presented as a semi-staged concert at the Union Theatre on 1 and 2 June 2026.
